Heavy Handed Wasn’t Just Made for the Gym

When we first started Heavy Handed, I thought I knew exactly who we were making it for.

People like me.

CrossFitters. Lifters. People who were tearing up their hands on the bar, ripping calluses, dealing with cracked palms, and trying to keep training without their hands falling apart.

And that is still part of it.

Heavy Handed was absolutely made for people who train hard and use their hands in the gym.

But once orders started coming in, something changed.

I started paying attention to who was actually buying it.

And it was not just gym people.

It was nurses washing their hands over and over during long shifts.

Mechanics dealing with grease, solvents, tools, and rough work every day.

Construction workers coming home with dry, cracked hands.

Welders. Hairstylists. HVAC techs. Landscapers. Farmers.

People who work outside. People who work with tools. People who spend all day washing, gripping, building, fixing, lifting, cleaning, and creating.

And then there were the wives buying it for their husbands because they could not stand how rough their hands had gotten.

That is when it really hit me.

Heavy Handed was never just about the gym.

It was about hard-working hands.

The hands that do the work

Some hands sit behind a desk all day.

And then there are hands that take a beating.

Hands that pull cable.

Hands that cut hair.

Hands that change oil.

Hands that care for patients.

Hands that pour concrete.

Hands that stack lumber, grip tools, turn wrenches, haul gear, plant, build, clean, repair, and provide.

Those are the hands we are talking about.

Hands that are dry because they are constantly being washed.

Hands that are cracked because they are exposed to weather, dirt, dust, tools, chemicals, and friction.

Hands that are rough because they are used every single day.

And most of the time, those hands get ignored until they start hurting.

Why regular lotion usually is not enough

A lot of people who work with their hands have the same problem.

They try regular lotion, and it either disappears too fast or leaves their hands feeling greasy.

Neither one is helpful.

If you are a mechanic, you do not want greasy hands when you are working with tools.

If you are a nurse, you need something that can fit into a routine that already involves constant hand washing.

If you are in construction, landscaping, welding, farming, HVAC, or any hands-on trade, you need something that can keep up with the abuse your hands go through.

That is why Heavy Handed had to be different.

We did not want to make something that looked fancy on a bathroom counter but did not actually get used.

We wanted something that made sense for real life.

A hand cream for working hands.

Something you could use after work, before bed, after washing your hands, or whenever your skin feels dry, rough, cracked, or beat up.

I know what hard-working hands feel like

This is personal for me.

I have spent over 20 years as a geotechnical driller, so I know what it feels like to come home with hands that are dry, cracked, and worn out from a full day of work.

I know what it is like when your hands are rough from tools, dirt, weather, grease, and long hours.

I know what it is like to keep working anyway because the job still has to get done.

That is a big reason we built Heavy Handed.

Not to give people soft hands just for the sake of soft hands.

That was never the point.

The point was to help people take care of the hands that take care of everything else.

Heavy Handed is for more than one kind of worker

One of the coolest things about building this brand has been seeing how many different people use it.

At first, I thought we were mostly talking to athletes.

Then we started hearing from nurses.

Then mechanics.

Then people in the trades.

Then farmers, hairstylists, contractors, lifters, parents, and people buying it as gifts for someone they love.

And honestly, that made the mission even clearer.

Heavy Handed is for anyone whose hands do the work.

It does not matter if that work happens in a gym, a hospital, a garage, a job site, a salon, a field, a workshop, or your own backyard.

If your hands are dry, cracked, rough, or worn out from what you do every day, you are exactly who we made this for.

Not delicate hands. Cared-for hands.

We are not here to make your hands delicate.

That is not the goal.

Rough hands usually tell a story. They show the work you have done, the people you have cared for, the things you have built, and the life you are providing.

But there is a difference between hard-working hands and painful hands.

Cracked knuckles, split fingertips, dry skin, and rough calluses that tear open are not badges of honor you have to just live with.

You can work hard and still take care of your hands.

You can have hands that are strong, capable, and cared for.

That is what Heavy Handed is about.

Built for hard-working hands

Heavy Handed started in the gym, but it grew into something bigger.

It became hand care for people who work hard, train hard, and keep going even when their hands are beat up.

So whether you are pulling cable, cutting hair, changing oil, caring for patients, pouring concrete, farming, landscaping, welding, lifting weights, or hitting a workout after work…

You are exactly who we made this for.

Thanks for being here.

And thanks for doing the work.
